Chapter 15 Behavior Management Due April 20th

For most students behaviors are learned and learned behaviors can be changed with patience, persistence, and positive reinforcement. Using form 47 on page 213, discuss these questions with your colleagues and decide upon the answers you will give your paras. Choose two to report on in your post and respond to 2 people.

To gain another perspective, using the tally sheet on page 215, observe a student on your caseload and compare him/her to the behavior of their peers. Is it significantly difference? If so, how do you go about changing their behavior? Write a paragraph on your findings and respond to 2 other people.

When assessing student achievement it is important to test only the student's knowledge of a curriculum area, not penalize the student for the disability. Keeping this in mind, describe the types of assessments and the ways to modify them

Chapter 13 Math Due April 6

Supporting students in the area of math requires addressing sequencing problem and the abstract. Using manipulatives to demonstrate and practice mathematical concepts is one way to address these deficiencies. Select an activity from this chapter and use it with your students, then assess it's efficiency in a narrative of a paragraph or two.

Spelling words should be compatible with the student's reading level. Many are able to succeed with minimal modifications. Choose one of the spelling activities in this chapter and use it with a student. Again, share your experience in a post of one or two paragraphs.

Chapter 11 Written Langauge Due March 30th

Writing can be a challenge for many students, more often than not their papers are returned covered with corrections. It is important to encourage students efforts and to place the emphasis on the student's ideas rather than on sentence structure. Keeping this in mind implement one of the writing activities in this chapter and share your process in your post.

Reading is an issue for many special education students. Choose one of the forms mentioned in this chapter and implement it with a student. Report your results in one or two paragraphs.
